How to Attempt

  1. Choose your dates — Book as early as possible (no later than 31st March). Bookings cover the entire swim window; specific days cannot be selected.
  2. Secure your dates — Agree on T&Cs and pay a non-refundable deposit.
  3. Complete paperwork — Swimmer Information form, LGSA Medical and Self-Assessment Swim forms (after 1 Jan, at least 2 weeks before window start).
  4. Meet deadlines — Deposit upon booking; balance within 90 days or before 30 April. Registration may be cancelled if incomplete by 31 March.
  5. Late applications — Possible by arrangement only. Speak with the LGSA Secretary first.

Self-Assessment Requirements

Solo attempt: Two swims over two consecutive days — 10 hours (day 1) and 7 hours (day 2) in water ≤18°C, without exiting, no wetsuit or buoyancy aids. Completed within 18 months of your swim window.

Relay attempt: Two 2-hour swims on the same day in water ≤18°C, same conditions. Team leader uploads all forms.

Is it a race?
No — it's an adventure swim celebrating your achievement. Not timed competitively.
Will there be feed stations?
Yes, every ~2km for the 6.2km distance only (water, energy bars, gels).
Can I bring my own kayaker?
Yes, but they integrate into the safety team. Personal feeding kayakers allowed additionally.
Can I wear a tow-float?
Mandatory for 6.2km and all skins swimmers. Optional for wetsuited 1.5km/750m/200m.
Is there a cut-off time?
6.2km: 36 min/km cut-off. Last swimmers finish around 1pm. This is a hard stop.
